The Protester's Call
by Cassie Petersen

Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
As I walk through town I can hear them chanting
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
Their call, ringing in my ears like a bell
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
The words start swirling in my head
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
Protesters everywhere wearing nothing but green
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
And then I find that I too am one of those protesters
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
Loudly chanting with the others
Don't trash our planet! Keep the planet clean!
Author's Bio:
My name is Cassidy Petersen. I was born and grew up in Michigan. My family and I have lived in North Carolina for the past 3 years. I'm 13 years old. I play the violin and LOVE to sing. I even write my own songs. I write poetry because I love expressing my feelings in that sort of manor. Poetry speaks to me. My definition of poetry is: "Words that come from the heart and not just from one's mind". Poetry should be about something (or maybe someone) that you're passionate about. Don't write poetry because you have to. Write poetry because you want to.
